Here at Family Care Adoption Services, we believe that every child has the right to a family life. From your initial enquiry, Family Care staff hold the highest of standards to make sure each Prospective Adopter or Adopted Adult seeking support or advice gets exactly what they are looking for. Our Life Story team also play a very important role in working with young people aged between 11-22 to help them fill the gaps in their personal history and talk about their memories both positive and negative. Maggie McSorley

CEO

My Name is Maggie, I joined Family Care as a Social Worker in 1998 and held several previous posts in the Agency before becoming CEO in 2016. My particular area of expertise is in working with Adopted Adults and their Birth families and I also manage our Lottery funded Life Story Project.

In my own time I enjoy reading and swimming and being walked by my enthusiastic spaniel!

Brian Downey

Adoption Services Manager

My name is Brian, I am the Adoption Services Manager and have worked in Family Care since 1998. I can't believe I have been with the agency for so many years, but it shows that I like my job! I admire anyone who wishes to adopt and provide a loving and stable family home for a child. My favourite part of the work is helping adopters achieve their dream of becoming parents to a child or siblings.

Away from work I like to watch various sports, football, and tennis in particular, and try to keep fit by going to spin cycling classes.

Sharon McMurrough

Social Worker (Adopted Adults Team)

My name is Sharon and I am a social worker within the adopted adults team. I have been a social worker for over 25 years, working both in the Statutory and Voluntary sectors in a variety of roles. I can honestly say that whilst often challenging, working in this area has been the highlight of my career and it is a privilege to play a small part in adopted adult’s and birth family’s journeys.

When not in FCAS, I enjoy hanging out with family, walking our golden retriever, travelling, eating out, reading and enjoying a good drama on tv.

Aoife Donnelly

Social Worker (Adopted Adults Team)

My Name is Aoife, I’m one of the Social Workers in the Adult Adoption Team. I have worked in the agency since 2019 and prior to this worked in various roles within the voluntary and community sector.

Outside of work I enjoy travelling especially going on road trips with my dog, going to concerts and I also sing in two community choirs.

Louise McQuoid

Social Worker

Hi, I’m Louise, a values driven, compassionate social worker with 15 years’ experience working alongside children and families, including in Foster Care and Adoption roles. It is a privilege to support children to be cared for in safe and consistent family environments for their positive futures.

In my free time I enjoy exploring local forest parks with my young family along with a flat white and tasty baked goods!

Annie Jayson

Social Worker

Hi, I'm Annie, I'm a Social Worker at Family Care Adoption Services. Prior to joining Family Care I have worked in various roles within the voluntary and community sector. It is a great privilege to work with Adults and Children through all stages of the Adoption journey.

Outside of work I enjoy spending quality time with my young family and supporting them to pursue their passions for sport and dance. I love Musical Theatre and I always have plenty of shows booked throughout the year to keep me busy!

Sarah Johnston

Co- Ordinator Life Story Project

My name is Sarah, I am the Co-ordinator of the Life Story Project. I have been part of the team at Family Care since 2016. My job gives me the privilege of supporting young people to explore and process their past. I love how this work helps young people to think positively about themselves and their future. I am passionate about the work that we do, and I have seen the Life Story Project make a lasting impact on the lives of many individuals and their families.

In my free time I like to spend time in the outdoors, and I particularly enjoy jumping into the sea for a wee swim throughout the year!

Lydia Searle

Life Story Project

My name is Lydia, I am one of the Life Story Project Workers at Family Care. I have worked for Family Care since October 2021 and the best part of my role is getting to see young people learn more about their care journeys and their histories alongside a supportive team.

Outside of work, I enjoy sea swimming and walking my dog!

Anne Moane

Senior Administrative Officer

My name is Anne, I am the Senior Administrative Officer at Family Care Adoption Services since 1999. My job entails supporting staff in a range of Admin duties, Finance, including accounts and attending Board meetings.

When I am not in work I like to spend my time in my garden, listening to music and spending time with the family.

Mary Foy

Administration Officer

My name is Mary. I am the Administration Officer at Family Care Adoption Services. I have been a part of the team since 2016. My job entails supporting a range of admin duties, including attending panel meetings, minute taking, updating records and the data base.

When I am not working, in my spare time I enjoy swimming, gardening and reading a good book.

Matthew Lynch

Communications & Engagement Co- Ordinator

My name is Matthew, I joined Family Care as the Communications and Engagement Co-Ordinator in March 2024. Family Care has a long history of helping families to adopt and I am happy to have a role in helping promote the excellent Adoption and Post Adoption support services that the agency offers.

In my free time I enjoy both watching and playing football and getting out for a walk during the weekends.
