In addition to recruiting new adoptive families and placing children into adoption, Family Care also works extensively with adopted adults and with their birth families.
We know that research into historical adoption has an important place in this work, and that it is especially important that birth mothers themselves have the opportunity to share their experiences.
A new Research Study is taking place at the moment which is looking at the experiences of unmarried women who placed children for adoption in Northern Ireland between 1967- 1987.
*This is piece of research is separate to the important work currently underway in relation to Mother & Baby Homes and any single mother with this experience in her life is very welcome to participate.* *IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN CONTRIBUTING, PLEASE CALL DONNA SHIELDS 07599480044 OR EMAIL Donna.Shields@ed.ac.uk*
